Histology with embryology and cytology plays an important role in the system of biomedical knowledge. It provides the fundamental theoretical knowledge that serves as the basis for all subsequent training of future doctors.

In our department, students learn the structure of the human body at microscopic and submicroscopic levels, known as patterns of development and differentiation of cells and tissues at the cellular adaptation, tissue levels of mechanisms of tissue regeneration and so on. Histological methods are widely used in medicine to understand the disease mechanisms and suggest ways to treat them.

The Teaching Staff of Histology and Embyology Department

The Department staffare constantly working to improve teaching methodology. Theoretical and practical knowledge of the department are applied to students of four faculties- medical (I, II courses), dentistry (Iyear), nursing (4 year) and pharmaceutical (I year), who study the following sections subjects: cytology, embryology, general and special histology.

Practical classes with students are conducted in accordance with established teaching materials. The methodology of the studies focus primarily on learning and skills that are necessary for the practical work of a doctor.

Students are completely equipped with methodical literature, which is constantly updated and improved. Faculty has prepared training manuals, atlases "Ultrastructure of the cells and tissue", "Ultrastructure basic components of human body" manual "Embryology", CD "Educationalmaterials of Histology, Cytology and embryology", " Pathology Anatomy and Physiology"

Educational materials, developed by the department.

Performing measures "Concept of Ternopil I.Y. Horbachevsky State Medical University", have under gone significant changes in the department for the last 5years in theeducational process. Based on the model programs, new work programs have been created and put in place by a single working day technique-Ukrainian, Russian and English.

Special attention in the classroom is geared towards the first course practically oriented training, mandated by the Z-System.

All training materials are available on the WEB-page for different faculties in Ukrainian, Russian and English languages, the work programs of thematic plans, schedules of workshops and lectures, charts for teacher duties, guidance materials to prepare for workshops, preparation material for lectures, presentations, lectures, videos and tables.

Extensive work has been conducted on the introduction and improvement of test knowledge control system Moodle. Faculty created a bank of tests from the previous testing system "Moodle" (250 tests on each class) for the independentterm test examination.

For daily monitoring of student learning, teachers of the department created a super visory program thatincludes: tests, structural issues, case studies, electron micrographs and specimens. Assessment of student learning is taken into account with the implementation of practical part of training, participation in seminar discussion sand material performance control tasks.

To improve the training and successful completion of the practical skills, videos have been created for all topics in the area of study.

Main scientific achievements of the department

In 2008, the implementation of planned interdepartmental research "Changes in Ksenodermotransplantant when exposed to natural factors and the effectiveness of their use inpatients suffering with burn injuries (morphological research)" concluded.

Analyzed and learned toxic, sorptionand antimicrobial action lyophilized Ksenodermotransplantant after exposure tophysical factors (singlet oxygen and biohalvanization). Clinically and morphologically proven effectiveness and usefulness of these grafts in treatment of patients with burns.

The departmental soparticipated in the implementation of planned research: "Clinical and morphological changes in body with diabetes and tyreopathology, according to the age aspect" (2006 – 2009 years).

Within this research, ultrasound and biochemical indicators of thyroid cancer in young people with diabetes type II were analyzed and learned. Relationships between anthroposomatometric performance and ultrasonic volumes as well as levels of thyroid hormones in healthy and diabetic patient stype II boys and girls were established in general and various somatotypes. Discriminant model were developed with the possibility of type II diabetes in young people, depending on the characteristics of the body structure.

In 2011, implementation of planned interdepartmental research "Using the factor sand the physical nature of bioorganic correction regenerative processes in thermal injury" was completed. Physical and biological properties of crushed substrate lyophilized ksenoderma (pigs) as well as its impact on the regenerative processes in the skin and organs of the body after thermal injury were analyzed and learned.

One of the prioritiesof the departmentis the organization of research as well as introduction in to clinical practice. Comprehensive morphological and clinical studies that substantiate feasibility of newt reatments for burn disease have been conducted. An informative method of monitoring the process of intoxicating patients that have a burn injury, with modified acid hemolysis reaction methods was developed and can objectively assess the dynamics of endotoxemia, can be recommended for use in daily practice of clinical laboratories.

The high biological activity of silicon wafer production by "Combustiologists" gives reason touse them for prevention of scarring in place epithelial burn wound sand for the treatment of fresh hypertrophicand keloid scars.

The use of lyophilized transplantsand the crushing of substrateis a perspective method of correcting not only thermal but also mechanical defects of the skin.

Dissertations, which are made by and for theresults of scientific research ass.Tupol L. D. (2007), ass.Yavorska S. I. (2008), ass.Nebesna Z. M.(2009), ass. Shuturma O.Ya.(2009), asp.GerasimchukN. L. (2011), Getmanyuk I. B. (2012), Litvinyuk S. O. (2013).

Patents for utility model received: 2007 – 1, 2008 – 2, 2010 – 2.

According to the results of research done by the Institute for the last 5 years, published: articles -44 ,theses –58, reports atvarious scientific forums -48.

Institute of curators

Education- is primarily aperception of each individual culture of the native people, which helps transfer, develop and create and use today’s veritable generational experience of previous generations, ensuring the continuation of centuries of cultural and historical traditions of parents. It creates people of this era, introduces them to the sphere of human values. A prominent thinker of XIX century J.Guillot once wrote that education – is an art that is extracted from the depths of the human souland brings to life every thing that sleeps within; which simultaneously develops all its power and helps it togetto the target, enlightening the men.

The basis of the whole system of education inUkraineis the nationalidea, which acts as aunifying, consolidating factorin social developmentaimedat developing humanlife position, turning the individual into a citizenof the state.

Within a year, once every two weeks information hours with student groups are held, where elders listen to reportson progressand disciplinein groups, the students bring to the decision of administration, academic council anddean.Themededucational classes, particularly in Octoberwithcuratorialgroups hold a discussionon "activist position of youth inpolitical life- a pledgetoa happyfuture",with English-speakingstudentsholdinga conversationon the topic of "Ukrainian traditions."

Curators along with students, conduct various cultural events, organizing visits to the drum theater, the Philharmonic. Also they go onguided toursto the museume state of I.Y. Horbachevsky.
